WWE Wrestlemania 30 Predictions 2014 | Pay Per View Predictions – SA Magazine
Is this the Wrestlemania that is, or is not? Not unlike the Super Bowl, Wrestlemania is always the one pay per view of the year that isn’t geared towards the hard core wrestling afficianado. Like going to church on Easter or Christmas, the WWE knows they’ll be bringing in some non-regular viewers, so they’re out to give their best sermon… in hopes of creating more regular viewers. To that end, it’s a bit shocking that for the second year in a row, Pete Rose, Maria Menounos, Snooki, and no other celebrities are anywhere near the card, and several belts aren’t even being defended. But, thanks to the fans in Pittsburgh, it seems maybe that’s a good thing, and hopefully the World Wrestling Federation is finally starting to wake up, and toss away those old, tired and worn out trends.
WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FATAL 4-WAY PRE-SHOW MATCH
THE USOS (c) VS. LOS MATADORES VS. THE REAL AMERICANS VS. RYBACK & CURTIS
Tantamount to how the tag team title belts have become little more than an afterthought in the WWE, here we have what would likely be a very good match if given the proper showcase, and the proper buildup. Unfortunately, this match has neither. In all likelihood, you’ve never even heard of Los Matadores, you’d prefer seeing Ryback and Curtis back as single’s competitors, and you’re patiently awaiting the breakup of Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger’s duo of the Real Americans so that Cesaro can start getting a push. That should make it simple to pick the Uso’s as the winner, right? Well, the trend says yes- that WWE wants an exciting, high flying match with inherent babyfaces winning gold, and starting everyone off in a good mood. I say they send a different opening message this time- “We’re the WWE, we can still surprise you, and yes, we really do know what the fans want.” Cesaro’s push begins now.
Winner: Real Americans
THE SHIELD VS. KANE & THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS
While rumors swirl about Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins eventually turning on Roman Reigns, the thing to remember is that, unlike TNA, when the WWE drops a hint about something, they don’t give it to you the very next week. After defending Lawler to Corporate Kane on Raw, it’s evident to me that their recent, rejuvenated camaraderie is not a swerve, the group truly is stronger than ever, and after Pittsburgh’s Royal Rumble debacle with Daniel Bryan, I’m firmly convinced that this is the Wrestlemania where the WWE is going to give the Universe literally everything they want.
Winner: The Shield
THE ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL
30 Superstars will celebrate both the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania and one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time when they compete in the first-ever Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. If you believe in the theory that, whatever happens on the go-home show is the opposite of what will happen during the actual pay-per-view event, then you can forget the popular choice of the Big Show winning this showcase right away. I for one, am taking that theory to the bank on this one, though he probably will be one of the final four… just to make it interesting. That’s not to say a “giant” will not win this, however. Rather than just list out all of the announced participants, I’ll just name the big men who I feel could logically leave the ring as possible winners– Big E, Titus O’Neil, Sheamus, Mark Henry, Brodus Clay, and The Great Khali. As odd as it may seem, when you consider that, not only does a giant have to win this, whoever does win this will carry around the monicker of “The First Ever Winner of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal“… there actually is a degree of logic to letting Khali and his red sweat pants get the victory for a shred of credibility. But that’s a stretch. The way I look at it, neither he, Clay nor Titus O’Neil have a shot. You can also eliminate Big E because he already has a title, and Sheamus fared so well in the Royal Rumble, that it just feels “been there, done that” to have him win here. So who’s left? Mark Henry or Big Show… and we’ve already eliminated Big Show.
Winner: Mark Henry
VICKIE GUERRERO DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONAL
AJ LEE (c) VS 13 OTHER DIVAS
Let me explain something to you. Google “AJ Lee”. Now look at the number of results. Yes, you’re seeing that number correctly- ninety-nine million results. Ninety-nine million pages about AJ Lee on the web. Ninety. Nine. Million. First of all, despite the fact that there are literally 98,999,999 other pages about the Geek Goddess in our way, our AJ Lee Bio page is still one of the top ten draws to our entire network of websites for two years running. Second of all, Google any other Diva in this match, and the numbers don’t even come close. This tells you three things: One, it’s why they couldn’t even settle on one contestant for AJ to face. Two, it’s exactly why I correctly predicted that she would hold the belt for a record shattering amount of time before she even won it, and three, that AJ is still so insanely popular, that they couldn’t possibly take the belt off of her. So, look for AJ and her adorable little Chuck Taylors to score a quick rollup on Tamina about two and a half minutes into the match (before any of the models in this match can sweat off their makeup) and keep her belt.
Winner: AJ Lee
WINNER TO BE ENTERED INTO THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
DANIEL BRYAN VS. TRIPLE H
Let’s make one thing clear from the start- there is no way on Earth that Triple H will job clean to Daniel Bryan. But, we also know, for a fact, that Daniel Bryan is going to be in the three-way main event for the WWE Championship. So, how does he get there? Option A: Double countout. If they tie, they both go. Option B: Triple H cheats and gets busted and DQ’d by Vince, who many feel will be making his imminent return any day, on the heels of Stephanie and Hunter being so braggadocious about “owning” everything lately. Option C…. M Punk.
Winner: Daniel Bryan via a CM Punk assist
THE STREAK ON THE LINE
THE UNDERTAKER VS. BROCK LESNAR
Make no mistake about it- Brock Lesnar is going to beat the snot out of The Undertaker. In fact, you’re going to begin believing that the Dead Man cannot possibly raise his shoulder one more time… til suddenly the lights go out, ‘Taker has rolled up Lesnar for a quick three count, and Sting is standing in the rafters… leaving you with 365 days to yearn for the match of the century.
Winner: The Undertaker
JOHN CENA VS. BRAY WYATT
We are probably at the very beginning, of a very long storyline, to where we see John Cena being driven to the brink of insanity, just so his character can be a lot less vanilla. In order for that to reach fruition however, this story needs to continue, which means, the hero cannot win on Sunday. As unbelievable as it may feel to read, yes, I am predicting John Cena to not win at Wrestlemania… but like I said, the WWE is going to give the fans everything they’ve been asking for… and let’s face it, Cena winning does nothing, where as a Wyatt victory helps the character. Cena may not lose clean to the newcomer, but he is going to lose.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
RANDY ORTON VS. BATISTA VS. WINNER OF DANIEL BRYAN-TRIPLE H MATCH
We all know Batista was brought back, just like The Rock was, to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title. However, the WWE has obviously figured out that the fans do not care about a Batista vs Orton main event, or we wouldn’t even have this new rewrite, after the fiasco that was the Royal Rumble. So… flip a coin. Does the WWE stick with the original plan and give Batista the belt on the basis that too many wheels were already in motion, and too many contracts were already signed in blood? Or are they really going to deliver what the fans really, really want? The coterie of professional wrestling experts out there, are rather split down the middle on this very dilemma… but I’m sorry… I just cannot see the World Wrestling Federation stretching this out any longer, or fans are simply going to tire of the endless stringing along and drop off like flies. Too many have become callous and numb to the pain already. It has to stop, and the WWE knows that. No matter if they’ve given you everything you want on the previous seven matches or not (Cena losing, Sting and CM Punk returning, Streak continuing, AJ retaining, SHIELD and Cesaro going over, etc), Daniel Bryan simply cannot lose this match. So forget the debate– Wrestlemania XXX absolutely, positively has to end with the Superdome engaged in the largest “Yes” chant on record.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
