WWE Summerslam 2015 Predictions | Pay Per View Predictions – SA Magazine

Will Sting finally return? Find out, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, when the WWE returns with it’s “Wrestlemania of the Summer”. Summerslam will begin with it’s typical 6 PM ET Kickoff show on the WWE Network, which of course, leads into the main show at 7PM ET… which may or may not be simulcast by your local cable provider.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev

“After a month on the shelf thanks to an injury from Rusev, Dolph Ziggler returns to face his tormentor at SummerSlam. Will The Showoff and Lana get some much-needed payback against The Bulgarian Brute and his new squeeze, Summer Rae?

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Ziggler is forced to job, and makes his debut in TNA happen that much sooner.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: It’s simply too early to wrap this story up. Plus, I don’t really believe Rusev, who has lost only to Cesaro and Cena, is ready to add Ziggy to the short-list. With that said, it’s never the wrong time for a cat fight, especially if Lana is involved. So plan on the women being heavily involved in this match, leading to a mixed tag match next month, where Lana and Ziggler will get their much hyped revenge over Rusev & Summer Rae.

Winner: Rusev

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

“Bitter adversaries look to settle their heated rivalry this Sunday, live on the award-winning WWE Network, when Randy Orton battles Sheamus in a huge SummerSlam showdown.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Sheamus wins and hilariously fails (again) at a MITB cash in later.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: It feels as though we’ve seen these two fight it out ten-thousand times before. With that in mind, yes, the matches have been brutally violent, but the WWE hasn’t really pushed this rivalry much, and honestly, the outcome seems rather predictable in order to give it some steam. Truth be told, the only thing worth paying any attention to may very well be just to see if Sheamus pulls a Money in the Bank cash-in later, after his horribly failed attempt to cash in the briefcase two weeks ago. Therefore, go ahead and take the heel here, since he lost in their last pay-per-view bout. At least that sets up a potential rubber match in a street fight or steel cage match at Night of Champions to finish off this boring feud.

Winner: Sheamus

Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens

“WWE’s outspoken prizefighter meets The Swiss Superman when Kevin Owens and Cesaro go one-on-one at The Biggest Party of the Summer.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Whatever happens between these two will be awesome.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Neither guy can really handle another loss here, but one thing’s for certain– this will definitely be the match of the night. Truth be told, Owens seems to be on a bit of a decline (perhaps because the WWE brass is upset over a possible weight gain?) and Cesaro seems to be on a “Cesaro section” babyface upswing again. Owens can always even things up in round-two. Which means I’m picking the King of Swing in this coin-flip, based on longevity, good-guy-ship, and increasing talk about his talent making him worthy of a main event spot.

Winner: Cesaro

Stephen Amell & Neville vs. Stardust & King Barrett

“After months of social media sparring, star of the hit show “Arrow” Stephen Amell will team up with Neville to battle his arch nemesis Stardust and King Barrett at WWE SummerSlam”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Supergirl shows up, and kicks all their asses.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: I am quite loathe to admit, because it’s a celebrity match, that this bout actually sounds like fun. Neville is about as close to a high flying superhero as the WWE has had since the days of The Hurricane, and I actually am a fan of just about anything related to DC Comics. Even though we all know who’s not only winning here, but who is also getting the pin, it is worth noting that Stephen Amell posted a Facebook video about heading off to Summerslam, where he held up his costume from Arrow and said, “You didn’t think I was coming without it, did you?”.

Winner: Amell & Neville

Diva’s Elimination Tag Team Match
Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch vs. Naomi, Tamina Snuka and Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox, Brie and Nikki Bella

“Team Bella vs Team B.A.D vs PCB. The factions spearheading the Divas Revolution collide at Summerslam in a Three Team Elimination Match!

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Smartasses Magazine’s Goddess of the WWE, AJ Lee shows up and kisses Paige for no reason whatsoever.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Clearly the WWE wants a Bella to break AJ Lee’s record of holding the record the longest, if for no other reason than to slap her in the face for retiring. That doesn’t mean team Bella needs to go over tonight. But they will. With Sasha Banks coming off of a non-title win over Nikki Bella on the go-home edition of Raw, it bodes for Nikki, her sister and Alicia Fox winning. Furthermore, the Diva’s belt needs to become meaningful again, and after jobbing to all the newcomers in an effort to get them over, the fact of the matter is that Nikki is indeed close to breaking AJ’s record for longest reign, and they need to start making her look like a champion again. Frankly, this Nikki Bella run is something I find disgusting, but I think it’s what Vince wants.

Winner: Team Bella

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper

“Having reassembled their bizarre family, Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper unite against Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Exactly what I’m predicting below.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: According to F4WOnline the WWE planned to have Reigns and Ambrose win their Summerslam match, which would make sense, especially considering how Wyatt & Harper have been doing quite little as of late. But I say, why not step up the ante in smarky Brooklyn? After all of the puke-inducing buddy-buddy crap we’ve been shovel-fed regarding Ambrose & Reigns lately, it smells like a heel turn to me. So give the New Yorkers what they want– a Roman Reigns beatdown. What better way to do that than to have Dean Ambrose team up with fellow psycho Bray Wyatt and set up an awesome former-Shield-feud for Survivor Series?

Winner: Wyatt & Harper

Fatal Four Way Tag Team Championship
Prime Time Players (c) vs. The New Day vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores

“The Lucha Dragons, The New Day and Los Matadores will vie for The Prime Time Players’ WWE Tag Team Titles in SummerSlam’s Fatal 4-Way Match.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: The Ascension gets put in this match at the last minute and actually ascends.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Isn’t this exactly the same match we had at Wrestlemania? Do we ever even see the Lucha Dragons or Los Matadores for any reason other than making it seem as though the WWE actually has a tag team division? Look at it from another angle- The New Day is set to win the straps soon. It’s either tonight, or next month. Let’s go with it happening tonight.

Winner: New Day

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

“The Undertaker attempts to avenge The Streak as he battles Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: Sting is seen in the rafters, with his baseball bat, staring down a victorious Undertaker.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: Last year, Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s unprecedented undefeated streak at Wrestlemania and now Undertaker is out for revenge. By all designs, Lesnar should win this match, because it continues the story of Undertaker failing to overcome his demons, and also because the loss would derail the momentum Lesnar has had over the last 17 months. That being said, this is WWE, and with ‘Taker’s new heel attitude, I say he pulls it off to set up for a Wrestlemania 32 match against the consummate good-guy, Sting.

Winner: Undertaker

Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship
Ryback (c) vs. The Miz vs. The Big Show

“Ryback returns from injury to defend his Intercontinental Title against Big Show and The Miz at SummerSlam.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: The Miz winning, uncleanly, of course.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: With Ryback having spent several weeks on the disabled list, his title run was stalled, which obviously explains why we’re getting this match tonight instead of last month at Battleground. Big Show probably isn’t getting another belt ever again. He’s too old, and frankly, he just doesn’t need one to be over. The Miz is probably the best heel on the roster, though most WWE fans will never admit it, and actually deserves another run with gold (and in fact, there has been insider talk about him getting one) but having held the IC title four times already, that run with gold needs to be main event stuff again. Therefore, since we can rule out the other two cats, and Ryback needs a longer period of time with the strap to make his reign feel more meaningful…

Winner: Ryback

Winner Takes All Match
Seth Rollins (World Heavyweight Champion) vs. John Cena (United States Champion)

“United States Champion John Cena will face WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in a Winner Takes All Match.”

WHAT WOULD BE COOL: If we didn’t get a typical, boring, John Cena match.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: This is the last chance for Rollins to prove himself a worthy champ, or prove he was a paper champion all along. But let’s not talk about paper. Let’s talk about cloth. The WWE recently designed new merchandise that celebrates John Cena‘s fifteen world title reigns. So it really makes little sense to change that number to sixteen tonight.

Winner: Seth Rollins
